CRRC Datong Electric Locomotive Bonding Joint Design Training

At the invitation of CRRC Datong Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Datong Locomotive), on December 26, 2023, Yifa Bonding and Composites Research Institute conducted a week-long meeting with more than 20 people from the Datong Locomotive Design Department, Process Department and related personnel. Bonded joint design training, this training was personally delivered by Mr. Zhang Yuxian, general manager of Yifa Bonding and Composite Materials Research Institute.

The EN17460 standard "Adhesive bonding manufacturing of rail vehicles and their components" is designed based on the DIN6701 series of standards. It is a comprehensive set of quality assurance specifications for adhesive bonding in the rail vehicle industry and its vehicle maintenance. How does this standard Provides a framework for creating a repeatable and supervised bonding process. The official version of the EN17460 standard has been officially published in October 2022, and will gradually replace the DIN6701 series of standards in the next three years.

This training focuses on the design and verification of bonded joints, and mainly includes the following parts: design process, requirement list, load, material properties and design case analysis. During the class, students communicated frequently with the teacher, and discussed with the teacher the cases and design difficulties at work. As the bonding design supervisor, Mr. Zhao specifically raised the issue of designing and calculating the epoxy glue for the aluminum alloy cladding of the motorcycle door frame. The teacher conducted a detailed design analysis on this case. Including glue selection, joint grade classification, temperature load calculation, etc. This also fully illustrates that lectures can only be fully recognized by students by integrating theory with practice. At the same time, Teacher Zhang’s professionalism and flexible teaching style have been unanimously praised by Datong Locomotive leaders.
