The European standard EN17460 "Adhesive Manufacturing of Rail Vehicles and Their Components" is like an experienced craftsman, carefully polishing and upgrading the solid foundation of the original German standard DIN6701 series standards, radiating new brilliance. This standard is not only in line with the DIN6701 series standards in terms of content and overall framework, but also deeply optimized and expanded on its basis to adapt to the rapidly changing development needs of the global rail transit industry.

The DIN6701 series standard, as a pioneer in adhesive technology in the rail transit industry, is like a beacon, illuminating the path of adhesive manufacturing in the rail transit industry. After more than a decade of refinement and growth, it has gradually transformed from a mandatory standard in the Federal Republic of Germany to a universal standard for the global rail transit industry and its component bonding production process, winning widespread praise and recognition.

However, with the rapid development of the global rail transit industry, the limitations of the DIN6701 series standards as mandatory domestic standards have gradually become apparent. In order to promote the internationalization process of standards and meet broader market demands, the DIN6701 series standards have been carefully upgraded and transformed into EN17460 standards. This upgrade not only makes the standard more in line with international norms, but also lays a solid foundation for its promotion and application worldwide.

The official publication of EN17460 standard marks a new era for adhesive manufacturing technology in the rail transit industry. As a new force in October 2022, it will coexist with the DIN6701 series standards during the transition period of the next three years, providing strong support for adhesive manufacturing in the rail transit industry. During this period of coexistence, the two standards will be considered equivalent and jointly contribute to the development of the industry.

In the EN17460 standard, personnel engaged in bonding work are divided into three levels, each representing different levels of technical ability and experience. First level comprehensive technical capability personnel are known as European Adhesive Engineers (EAE), who possess profound professional knowledge and rich practical experience; The second level comprehensive technical expert is the European Adhesive Technician (EAS), who excels in technical application and problem-solving; The third level of basic technical competence is the European Operational Technicians (EABs), who are grassroots forces in the field of adhesive manufacturing and provide a solid guarantee for the steady development of the industry.

With the upgrade of DIN6701 to EN17460, not only has it brought changes to the standard content, but it has also brought new opportunities and challenges to the industry.
