The opportunities for the application of adhesives in modern rail vehicle manufacturing and the successful implementation of the DIN6700 welding application standard in the rail vehicle manufacturing industry are driving forces. In 2000, the Federal Railway Administration introduced the DIN 6701 standard "Adhesive Manufacturing of Rail Vehicles and Their Components". Apart from the field of wood processing, this standard is the first effective DIN standard for quality assurance of adhesive joints.
The DIN6701 standard "Adhesive Manufacturing of Rail Vehicles and Their Components" is related to ISO 9001 and represents a successful example accepted by adhesive users and their customers, adhesive manufacturers, and the Federal Railway Administration (initiator). It demonstrates how organizational quality assurance is successfully achieved. In fact, the DIN6701 series standards were initially only focused on in Germany, but are now widely adopted internationally as the basis for bonding processes and are being internationalized as a European standard (EN).
Based on the ISO 9001 standard, user enterprises in the rail vehicle manufacturing industry must meet personnel, equipment, production site, and organizational requirements in accordance with the DIN6701 standard. At the same time, the considerable experience of DIN 6701 standard should also be utilized, including its application internationally. Various indications suggest that in order to meet these requirements, the initial financial expenses of the user company are certainly affordable, and its mid-term technological and economic benefits are also evident.
During this period, approximately 800 companies around the world have obtained certification according to the DIN6701 standard (as of March 2020), and the number has been increasing. In China, through more than ten years of unremitting efforts by Yifa Bonding & Composite Training Center, there are currently over 180 Chinese enterprises that have successfully obtained DIN6701A1 and A2 certification qualifications, and this number is rapidly increasing.
When drafting the DIN2304 standard, a similar form of structure was also chosen, including four core parts: bonding joints classified according to safety requirements, bonding supervision responsible for bonding work, load/stress verification, and certification according to the DIN 2304 standard.

If used correctly, the quality of modern adhesives can achieve zero failure production. The fact that adhesive failures often occur can only lead to one conclusion: the application of adhesives must be optimized. In other words, the quality of the adhesive usage process must be treated equally with the quality of the adhesive production process.
The adhesive usage process cannot be 100% tested for all defects through non-destructive testing. Therefore, bonding is a "special process" in the ISO 9001 standard, and there is no choice but to use a quality management system to eradicate those errors. As described in ISO 9001, it is more specific in DIN 2304. Quality assurance of bonding process - By certifying the correct use of adhesives and archiving quality documents, minimizing errors, saving costs, creating trust, promoting the wider application of adhesives, and continuously improving the bonding image. DIN 6701 has provided strong evidence.
